MiraDry
MiraDry is medical device to reduce sweating and odor in the underarms.
How does MiraDry work?
MiraDry uses safe, ultra-short wavelengths 3mm deep on the underarm area to target only the sweat glands but also hair follicles. Energy is delivered to the cutaneous-fat area under the arms while the other parts of the underarms are not affected. A suction system is triggered during the treatment to maintain the tissue. This treatment is non-invasive (no surgery needed) and is performed under local anesthesia.
The treatment eliminates (observation of 170 patients of Dr. Gaastra) :
- 82% of underarm sweating
- 89% of odor reduction
- 66% less hair (including white and red hair)
This treatment will have no effect on your body’s thermoregulation. The sweat glands in the armpits account for only 2% of the millions of other glands that help your body to perspire normally otherwise.
No recovery to be expected as a result of treatment.
If the patient suffers from severe hyperhidrosis, two treatments may be necessary.
